The Windy City

We spent some time in Chicago last week and saw lots of neat things.  We took too many pictures to share them all but here are some highlights.
Dinner on the first day of our arrival
Buckingham Fountain at twilight
The Starfish at the Shedd Aquarium
We got to touch the sting rays at the aquarium too
The Jellies
The aquatic show - three dolphins doing tricks

There are lots of great views of the skyline including this one.

A view of the city from the ferris wheel at Navy Pier.

We visited Millennium Park too.

Here's our reflection in the Bean.

We chuckled at this sign.

A Chicago dog

These were all along Michigan Avenue

This was a bike rental station.  They are located throughout downtown.

One of the cool skyscrapers

Most of us thought the deep dish Chicago style pizza tasted great.  Nick, on the other hand, had his usual dinner of chicken tenders!

It was a little cool at night.  Someone didn't think she
needed to bring her sweatshirt when we left the hotel.
Mark was a little cold on the walk back.

A street-view of Willis Tower & the Skydeck

It was a long way down!

Hey there!

This would not be my job!
There were two of them - neither one wore a hard hat

We took a boat tour on the Chicago River and
saw lots of different kinds of architecture.
These are the Corn Cob Apartments.

This is the Merchandise Mart - it is HUGE!

A quick bite for dinner on Michigan Avenue.

This is the Harold Washington Library downtown.
It is huge - 10 floors.  Our course, we had to visit it.

The kids were quick to find books and spend some time reading.

This was pretty cool.  It is a dollhouse in the children's wing of the library.  It's hard to tell from this picture but all the little people and props represent different children's books or nursery rhymes.  There is a peach in the forefront for "James and the Giant Peach."  The animals on the upstairs porch are from the "Wind & the Willows."

Sara was content on the train ride with her I-Pod.  It was a great trip and a fun four days.
